Magic islands are pretty strange, as far as Ty's concerned, but the one good thing they have going for them is the large expanse of room to run. It's not downtown Auckland, but there's a beach or a dozen he can run past and he found out the hard way that apparently there are dinosaurs living in one corner of the island. This is definitely weird shit the likes of which he's never seen before and considering the crap he's lived through, that's saying something.
Apart from the weirdness of the location, Ty's still focusing on being mortal. He wakes up and he's warm. He has breakfast and he can taste everything and he doesn't need to be sucked into a hopeless relationship in Hel for it. It's everything he's wanted and he doesn't know how he did it.
If it's good, does that mean it's bad filters back to him and he shakes his head of the thought, pushing himself faster on his run to try and get the memory out of his head. If this is seriously some side-effect of something happening to Odin, then Ty absolutely doesn't want to know about it. Better to think this is actually some cracked version of his life than the notion that the whole family died and he's here...alone.
"Shit!" Ty blurts out, skidding to a stop when he nearly runs into a large man, so caught up in his thoughts. He stumbles and takes an extra moment to right himself, taking the time to breath and catch himself before he continues on. "Sorry. Sorry about that," he says, eyeing the man's incredibly large biceps with some trepidation.

"I am Thor, Son of Odin, Prince of Asgard and her future king," he declares. "Who are you to question what I am doing?"

"Reborn indeed," he says, still eying Ty with distrust. "Höðr is old and blind, and I have no quarrel with Baldr. If you are of Asgard, as you claim, you are surely from some sister realm. The workings of the magic here have no rhyme or reason, but the island is fond of that trick, pulling us from different versions of the same place."

As far as Baldr goes, Ty doesn't comment that Thor might want to hold off on that until he meets Olaf. "Did the same happen to you? I've been desperate to get a hold of my brother, but there's no phones in or out and I can't tell mortals about the god shit," he admits. "When you got here, did you become normal?"

"Your world sounds very strange. I, too, have walked amongst the Midgardians, but never to flee. What was so dire in Asgard that you would leave?"
no subject
He looks him up and down. "So this place, it isn't god shit. Why we're here, it's not some test we have to pass to ascend to a higher rank of the Aesir?"

"Sorry, normally I go to the family oracle for this, but he's sort of not around."
no subject
"No," he says. "My power was restored in full only to be stolen again upon my arrival here. I know of no one being warned before their arrival here. This place exists outside of the nine realms. Even Loki , whose knowledge exceeds my own, had not heard of this place, and I am inclined to believe him in this matter, if no other."
He regards Ty with a questioning look. "In my realm, Hoder is the Son of Vili and has no such powers. He is but an old, blind man easily tricked. From your story, I would suspect you reborn of Jotuns."

The Odin part, he kind of wants to cope with later, given that he doesn't want to get into Axl's life just yet and the catch that curses the entire Johnson line.

"Loki is here, but he is of my realm. Whatever mischief he's wrought upon you was done by another, and should you seek retribution for crimes my brother did not commit, know that you will have me to answer to. Do not mistake my humanity for weakness."

His mother died because of that belief, but it's the right thing to do. It protects people if Loki knew the truth.

"If you die, it won't be at my brother's hand."

"Then may you find happiness here."

"But I see no reason to hide your identity in this place. All here know me as Thor, Son of Odin. Whether they believe me is for them to decide."

"As you wish, Ty Johnson," he says. "But know that there are rules here to protect us all, regardless of one's past. Should you wish to share with someone else, there is no one here to persecute you. Rest assured, however, that no mortal will hear of your true nature from I."

"And you are wise to recognize it," he says, gravely but for the slight twinkle in his eye. "Take care, Son of John."
