Magic islands are pretty strange, as far as Ty's concerned, but the one good thing they have going for them is the large expanse of room to run. It's not downtown Auckland, but there's a beach or a dozen he can run past and he found out the hard way that apparently there are dinosaurs living in one corner of the island. This is definitely weird shit the likes of which he's never seen before and considering the crap he's lived through, that's saying something.

Apart from the weirdness of the location, Ty's still focusing on being mortal. He wakes up and he's warm. He has breakfast and he can taste everything and he doesn't need to be sucked into a hopeless relationship in Hel for it. It's everything he's wanted and he doesn't know how he did it.

If it's good, does that mean it's bad filters back to him and he shakes his head of the thought, pushing himself faster on his run to try and get the memory out of his head. If this is seriously some side-effect of something happening to Odin, then Ty absolutely doesn't want to know about it. Better to think this is actually some cracked version of his life than the notion that the whole family died and he's here...alone.

"Shit!" Ty blurts out, skidding to a stop when he nearly runs into a large man, so caught up in his thoughts. He stumbles and takes an extra moment to right himself, taking the time to breath and catch himself before he continues on. "Sorry. Sorry about that," he says, eyeing the man's incredibly large biceps with some trepidation.

"Thor Odinson," Thor introduces, nodding slightly at the man. "I have been on this island for nearly two years. You come to recognize certain faces after a while."

He extends his free hand, by now familiar with the mortal custom. "Well met, Son of John."

Thor's eyes wide at so impudent a question. Though he is by now accustomed to reactions of disbelief, astonishment, wariness, there is something in Ty's tone that irks Thor, setting him on edge.

"Aye," he says gruffly, standing straighter. "You know my name."

Thor drops his bag of fowl, turning to face Ty directly. His garments do not reflect his stature, all of them mortal save for the gauntlets at his forearms, but his bearing suggests that of royalty -- the set of his shoulders proud, the jut of his chin defiant.

"I am Thor, Son of Odin, Prince of Asgard and her future king," he declares. "Who are you to question what I am doing?"

"Höðr?" Thor scoffs, staring down at the alleged would-be-god with suspicion. Could he be trying to have a laugh? Did Loki put him up to this? This man is as much Hoder as Thor is Donald Blake.

"Reborn indeed," he says, still eying Ty with distrust. "Höðr is old and blind, and I have no quarrel with Baldr. If you are of Asgard, as you claim, you are surely from some sister realm. The workings of the magic here have no rhyme or reason, but the island is fond of that trick, pulling us from different versions of the same place."

"I became human," replies Thor, the distinction important in his mind. He was accustomed to being an Asgardian, not a mortal, and no matter how many years he remains trapped in this realm, he will die long before his time as a human surpasses his time as an immortal.

"Your world sounds very strange. I, too, have walked amongst the Midgardians, but never to flee. What was so dire in Asgard that you would leave?"

"I had wondered that as well," admits Thor, looking out to some point in the distance. "Hours before I arrived here, I had returned to Asgard after a brief period of exile on Earth. Odin had stripped me of my power in order to teach me of humility. For a time I suspected this realm was simply another part of that lesson, but I have since been assured that that is most likely not the purpose of this place. If Tabula Rasa is a test, it is not of Asgardian design."

Thor shakes his head, a hint of an apology settling over his features.

"No," he says. "My power was restored in full only to be stolen again upon my arrival here. I know of no one being warned before their arrival here. This place exists outside of the nine realms. Even Loki , whose knowledge exceeds my own, had not heard of this place, and I am inclined to believe him in this matter, if no other."

He regards Ty with a questioning look. "In my realm, Hoder is the Son of Vili and has no such powers. He is but an old, blind man easily tricked. From your story, I would suspect you reborn of Jotuns."

"I know little of Uller and Bragi. Balder is a friend," says Thor, too distracted by the expression upon Ty's face to continue further. It is a reaction that often follows mention of his brother and one Thor knows well to look for by now.

"Loki is here, but he is of my realm. Whatever mischief he's wrought upon you was done by another, and should you seek retribution for crimes my brother did not commit, know that you will have me to answer to. Do not mistake my humanity for weakness."

"You will be safe," promises Thor, for if he has anything to say about it, Loki's mischief will remain harmless.

"If you die, it won't be at my brother's hand."

Thor has been humbled by his experience as a human and possesses a fondness for Midgard that few of his ilk could understand as a result. Even so, he misses his old life: his powers, his friends, his family. He is fortunate to have Loki here, but what he would not give to see his mother and father, Jane. There is nothing for him here save to grow old. It is not the life he would wish for himself, yet Ty seems content with this lot. How peculiar.

"Then may you find happiness here."

"If you must," says Thor, finding the notion of such secrecy strange. He had only been reluctant to speak to Jane in much detail because he had no way to back his claims until once his powers had been restored. There had been no edict from Odin to stay his tongue regarding life in Asgard.

"But I see no reason to hide your identity in this place. All here know me as Thor, Son of Odin. Whether they believe me is for them to decide."

Again, Thor finds the concept strange, his brows knitting together.

"As you wish, Ty Johnson," he says. "But know that there are rules here to protect us all, regardless of one's past. Should you wish to share with someone else, there is no one here to persecute you. Rest assured, however, that no mortal will hear of your true nature from I."

If there has been one consolation in having so many others here not only know his name, but also some other version of Thor, it has been that they always seem to prefer him. His ego is in no need of further inflation, but it is nice thought to return to.

"And you are wise to recognize it," he says, gravely but for the slight twinkle in his eye. "Take care, Son of John."
